ARTICLE 24 - LANGUAGE QUALIFICATIONS

Q: Is it possible to become language qualified while on layoff?

A: At the moment, there is no ability to become language qualified while on furlough, no.

Q: What if you are bilingual but not interested to only fly to French destinations? Is there a bidding option for that?

A: If you are French qualified, and, as a condition of employment on your employment letter, they hired you with the specific intent to use you with the French designation. There may be an option to bid into a vacant unilingual position. No one can stop you from bidding what you want to bid. If you are French qualified and no one bids into French flying, there may be a situation where they have to put you on those flights. You can still bid for whatever you want.

Q: Will there be support to learn another language?

A: This was brought to the table, but at this time the Company is not willing to participate in this.
