Q: Why is AM reserve 2 hours longer than PM reserve?

A: This comes down to when the Company needs CCMs on reserve. The difference is due to the fact that there are no flights at that time. The Company also has the ability to change the AM reserve to “flex” up to 2 days prior to the reserve period starting.

Q: Can you clarify the reserve callout process: If callouts are being done in reverse seniority, how can you request it to be passed along to someone junior?

A: It is not going to be done in reverse seniority. The most senior would be offered, and they can say no - then it would go to the next most senior. The process for call out is described in the Reserve article, and can be summarized as follows:, lets say crew scheduling needs to assign a 4 day pairing, they would start with a call to the most senior CCM holding reserve who has exactly 4 days of reserve left, and go to the most junior with 4 days left - then they would go to those with 5 days left from senior to junior - then 6 days until they hit the most junior person.

Q: Is there still a max reserve duty period from the beginning of the call-out window on this TA? (ex: the max reserve duty period is 18 hours from the beginning of the call-out window on the frozen CCA)

A: There are limitations in place in terms of when your duty can run to, based on when your reserve starts, but these windows are much more in line with industry standard, and are heavily tailored toward the Company expanding its Wide Body operations.

Q: How will we truly know if we are the most junior on the reserve callout list?

A: You will have a Scheduling Review Committee who will be dealing with these scheduling issues – if you think you were called out of seniority, you could go to the committee and they would have the means to check. We did ask for a daily list, but the Company wouldn’t agree to that.

Q: Can you be scheduled a full month of reserve?

A: Reserve will be a mixed line, which means not 100% reserve in a month. There would be flying as well.

Q: Is the top 25% still exempt from reserve?

A: No, everyone is eligible for reserve. Multiple blocks of reserve will be scheduled from junior to senior. The number of reserve holders will be dependent on the number of reserve blocks needed in a month. For example: 1 junior CCM is scheduled 2 blocks of reserve, this reduced the total number of CCMs needed. We see several other factors within the Tentative Agreement mitigating the need for reserve call outs. This includes 6 day reserve blocks, and scheduling efficiencies (including the ability to extend duty in IROP situations) which would streamline the operations and result in less overall need for reserve-holders.

Q: Will we still have hot reserve?

A: Unfortunately because reserve is based on seniority with the ability to decline call-out if there are more junior reserve holders, hot reserve will not fit in the new reserve rules.
