Contingency Plan Update #3
Dear Members,
We are writing to you this evening to provide an update regarding the impending strike/lockout scheduled to occur in just over 30 hours.
This evening, the Employer advised the Union that they plan to park a portion of WestJet aircraft, with Swoop aircraft to follow, as they near the Friday deadline to cease operations. ALPA and the Employer are still actively bargaining.
As of right now, the possibility of layoffs has not been indicated to the Union.
Please review the email sent by Employer to your Company email. All applicable articles in your respective Collective Agreement apply, as this is considered an IROP scenario.
If you have further questions, please contact your Inflight Leadership or your respective Base Vice President for any specific questions you may have.
Please be assured we will continue to actively pursue specific information to ensure our Membership receives the support it deserves. The Union will continue to assert our position, demanding information from the Employer regarding the critical matters of concern to our Members.
We are committed to keeping you, our Membership, informed by providing you with updates as soon as they are made available.
