Swoop Integration

Dear 4070 Members, 

With the news today of the ratification of the WestJet & Swoop Pilots' Collective Agreement, the Company has stated that Swoop will be integrated into WestJet 's operations in under 5 months – October 28, 2023 - with movements occurring as soon as September 30th. In the communication they also confirmed that all Swoop Employees will stay with the Group, as part of WestJet, in pursuit of the long-term growth strategy. 

Since the news broke this morning, we have had many members reach out concerned about the impact this will have on our Membership. We have language negotiated that contemplates some of scenarios we face, however all variables are not known at this time.  

What we do know, is that this is important to all our Members at 4070, and we will be expecting the Company to share integration information with the Union in a timely manner. We have meetings, set to begin on Monday, to start working through the pieces.  Once we have that information, we will be communicating that out to the entire Membership.  

One thing is for certain, we are reassured to hear that there is a commitment from WestJet to ensure there is no job loss. Please read the communications that the Company has released so far.
