Wet Lease Update

Wet Lease Update

Hello fellow Swoopsters,

In answer to your questions, the charters are to end on January 9th, tomorrow. It was a last minute decision made mid-December.

In a meeting with Jimmy-Dean Porter (Director of Operations), Mark Rallo (Manager of Inflight), Kelsey Buck (Human Resources Partner), Alia Hussain (CUPE 4070 President),  Myself Sherrie Moore (WO Base's Vice President), and other CUPE national members,  it was disclosed that the charters had to be used for two reasons. Weather recovery and network recovery caused by routes planned, seats sold, crews scheduled but no aircraft available.

The unavailable aircraft was the result of the Swoop Planner leaving their job to go to a competitor at the last minute, without completing their work for the month or sharing what they had completed at the time of their departure.

Aircraft were either not assigned or were unavailable due to required maintenance. We also had to pull one aircraft to alleviate the pressure on the WS maintenance department, as they take care of both our aircraft as well as WS's.

All routes and schedules should return to normal after tomorrow, but if not, please let me know byclicking here!

Take care and happy flying!!
